Peer support groups

Carer Gateway assists in connecting you with others who care for a family member or friend, enabling the exchange of stories, knowledge, and experiences to mutually learn and offer support.

There are two ways Carer Gateway facilitates connections among carers:

  • In-person peer support groups – meet with others in your local area who also care for a family member or friend.

  • Online community forum – join the online written discussions to engage with other people who also care for a family member or friend.

In-Person Peer Support (IPPS) Groups

Carer support groups provide a space for carers to connect with peers in their local area, fostering a safe and supportive setting.

These groups are guided by a facilitator who collaborates with the group to tailor and conduct a program based on topics that matter to you, while also helping you forge relationships with fellow carers.
